Home Drone Security Systems Launching Soon

| Technology

If you thought that your wireless home security system is about as good as it gets, prepare for the next innovation in Security Products – The Home Drone.

The same technology that has made wireless alarm systems so popular will soon allow home owners to have their own private drone that will activate when an unauthorized entry is made, either automatically, or if you prefer, when you give the launch signal.

Here’s How The Home Drones are Envisioned to Work

In the case of a single family home, the drone will dock on a rooftop station that will continuously charge the battery. Home security drones will have a built-in HD camera with the capability to zoom, pan and record. When the alert signal is activated, the rotary wing allows for vertical take-off, and the  drone deploys in seconds.  Once the drone leaves the docking station, it will  hover over your home, capturing a wide view of what is happening at ground level.

The drone’s basic flight path is to hover in concentric circles over the home during the activation mode. Altitude levels would be limited to comply with FAA regulations. Users will be able to select the desired observation radius, with everything below captured on video, including vehicle identification and views of individuals present. These valuable  descriptions will help law enforcement capture the perpetrator. The on board camera will provide a birds eye view that you can watch on your smartphone. Once the drone has completed its mission, it returns to the docking station. Missions can be set to run for designated time periods or ended on demand.

Look for Home Drone Security Systems to Launch Within the Next 24 – 36 Months

There are dozens of companies designing and building various drone configurations for business and private use. Home security applications could provide a significant opportunity considering that 20% of all homes in the United States already have a home security system. Pricing for home drones with docking stations should range between $1000-$2000. Home security companies that are first to market will most likely offer the home drone at no upfront cost, choosing instead to amortize the cost over the term of the user’s contract, adding it to their monthly monitoring charge. If you already have a wireless home security system, expect the home drone to be available through select dealers as an added feature to your existing system.
